So today is your go-live day and you want to know how to set up your router?

In this Guide:

  1. Full Fibre Router Setup (Very Fast & Eggceptional plans)

  2. Fibre Router Setup (Fast plan)

  3. Using your own router (Any plan)

Full Fibre Router Setup (Very Fast & Eggceptional plan)

This is the set-up instructions for customers on our Really Fast 115Mb or Eggcellent 1Gb full-fibre to the premises plan (FTTP).

If you are a fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) customer on our Fast 80Mb plan then use these instructions.

Kit you need

  1. Router (the big black box)

  2. Power supply (black plug, adapter and wire)

  3. Ethernet cable (yellow ends)

Don’t plug your router in until your go-live day, which you can find in your emails. You cannot move your go-live date earlier. On the day, follow these steps. Your connection should automatically start working before 11.59PM.

Follow these steps

  • Plug the white ethernet cable with the yellow ends into the red WAN port on the back of the router

  • Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into 'Port 1' on the white Openreach box (Optical Network Termination otherwise known as the ONT).

  • Your ONT may look like any of the models below:

Position your router correctly:

  • The correct way up (so it’s flat)

  • As high up and central as possible

  • Unobstructed by walls or furniture (especially not in a cupboard)

  • Away from electrical devices like cordless phones and microwaves - these can interfere with your signal

  • Turn your router on and wait a couple of minutes for two green lights

  • When one of them starts to flash, you’re ready to connect

  • Use your Wi-Fi name and password to connect to the router – you’ll find them in the welcome email we sent you. You can also view these at any time by logging into My Cuckoo and clicking on Account overview

  • Pat yourself on the back, have a cup of tea, and surf the web to your heart's content

  • Sometimes connection speeds are lower than normal during the first few weeks. So don't worry if that's the case. If the issues persist, take a look at our Connection Guide

What about the micro-filter and broadband cable?

You will not need the micro-filter or the grey broadband cable for Full Fibre broadband. Feel free to recycle.

Setting up a wired device?

You simply plug in an ethernet cable (yellow ends) into an ethernet port at the back of your Cuckoo router and the other end into your laptop or PC.
