Creating Profiles for the people using the network is an important first step, allowing you to monitor and manage network access. Once a Profile for a person is created and devices are assigned, you can set up Focuses, know when family members are home, and even protect them from malicious threats. Any rules you set for the person can be conveniently applied to all their assigned devices.
During the initial setup, a Profile is created automatically for you using the information you provided during account creation.
What's the difference between inviting a person and just creating a profile?
Both options allow you to easily monitor and manage the internet experience for each individual while connected to the local network. However, inviting a person to download the Plume Home app provides additional capabilities, such as helping manage the network. Click here for instructions on inviting a person.
Creating Profiles for family members who don't have a mobile device, such as younger children, allows you to manage how and when they use the internet at home by setting up Focuses.
How to add a new person without inviting them to the Plume Home app
Open the Profiles page in your Plume Home app, choose People, and tap the + button.
Choose the Content filtering option that will be applied to all their assigned devices.
Type in their First name and Last name.
(Optional) Tapping on the portrait lets you add a picture to the new Profile using your mobile phone's camera or picture gallery.
If you do not choose an image for the person's portrait, their initials will be displayed instead.
Leave the Invite to the Plume Home app toggle in the Off position, then tap Add.
Assign devices following the additional steps below.
Assigning devices to a person
Now that the Profile has been created, the next step is to assign devices to that person.
From the newly created person's Profile, scroll down and tap on Assign devices.
If the user already has devices assigned, tap the black portrait icon next to the devices.
The top of the screen displays a stack of cards, each representing an unassigned device that is or has connected to your network.
Tapping the info icon on the device card lets you see more information about the device.
Use the Skip button to view the next device in the stack.
You can switch people by swiping the portraits left or right.
You can use the Assign button to assign the device to the person or drag the device card onto a portrait.
repeat the previous steps for the remaining unassigned devices once that device is assigned.
