How can I tell if someone is home?

How to tell if someone is home.

Updated over a week ago

You can view who is at home anytime using the Plume Home app, and even receive notifications when they return home or leave.

Each person's status is determined by when their assigned primary device connects and disconnects from the network. This makes it important to assign a suitable primary device for everyone, like mobile phones or WiFi-enabled smartwatches.

  • If a person's primary device disconnects because it is powered off or the WiFi is turned off, they are considered to have left home.

  • When motion alerts are enabled, those alerts will be enabled 15 minutes after the last person's primary device disconnects from the network.

Viewing people currently at home

  1. On the Home page, scroll down to the Activity section.

  2. Tap on the Recent motion tile.

  3. All the people currently at home are listed in the People at home section at the bottom of the Motion page.

How to enable Home Away notifications

  1. Open the Settings page and tap on the Notifications tile.

  2. Within the Home Away section, select the people you want to trigger alerts.

    • An alert will be sent when the person arrives at home and when they leave.

    • To avoid false notifications, once the person's primary device disconnects, the system waits 15 minutes before sending a notification that they have left.
